Erika Hofstede: Interior Design Technologist

At a young age, Erika displayed an interest in interior design by re-designing her room weekly. Now Erika spends her days creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful.

Now that Erika’s dream has become a reality, she spends her days creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful. She views her work at Hartwig Architecture as the perfect fit for her because it allows her to create designs that are beautiful as well as useful to people in their day to day life.

Erika believes that building with SOUL means including the needs of those who use the building in the design. She does not desire a heartless structure, but one that helps make life easier for everyone. The Robin Hood School, built for children with special needs was one project that captured her heart. Another intriguing project that Erika loved working on was Millenium Place in Sherwood Park.

Erika is proud of the fact that she and her colleagues at Hartwig not only do good work, but they go the extra mile to insure that each project matches the desires of the client who commissioned it.

She also enjoys her work environment and the closeness of the people she works with. “It’s a friendly place and just the right size of firm,” she says.

In her leisure time, Erika is either photographing the beauty in the world around her, or she’s curled up watching one of her favorite vintage movies.
