Robert Axten: B.Arch, AAA, LEED™ Accredited Professional, Associate
Robert grew up on a ranch near Radville, Saskatchewan. Right after high school he entered the Architecture program at Montana State University, obtaining the training that would launch his professional career.
Before joining Hartwig Architecture, Robert gained diverse experience by working in London, Paris, New York, Taipei, and Toronto. He attributes his personal success to his ability to remain objective about all the possibilities, his willingness to listen to all the players, and his capacity to accommodate multiple points of view.
“The projects we do here are interesting; both in design and in the way we meet the needs of our clients. Challenging projects are the best, and we do them frequently.”
Robert particularly enjoyed the Millennium Place project (for its complexity) and the Robin Hood School renovation (because this school serves special needs students).
“Building with SOUL is the result of building with total commitment, integrity, and a shared vision with the client.”
Robert draws his inspiration from the landscape and its relation to built form. “In a prairie setting, all built structures powerfully affect the view.”
He believes that the success of Hartwig Architecture is linked to the prevailing attitude of the team. “People want to be here. It’s genuine. The people here are committed and there is a willingness on everyone’s part to help out."
Robert’s hobbies include tennis, squash, reading, and music.
