Susanna Pon: M.Arch., B. Eng., AAA, MRAIC, Intern Architect
Susanna became interested in architecture when she first picked up LEGO and discovered she could make interesting buildings of her own design. Now that she is an adult, she still loves the challenge, the problem solving, and the diversity found in design work.
She says her career at Hartwig Architecture is enhanced by the diverse expertise of the team, clear expectations, open communication, and laughter. Her design ideas are easy to present in this environment and Hartwig Architecture provides the opportunity to gain experience in every phase of a project. “Everyone here can achieve more because the team members are so willing to help each other.”
Susanna says this about her success. “It helps that I’ve had a supportive family. Although I studied structural engineering, I have a passion for architecture so now I’m blending the technical and creative experiences to become an architect.”
One of her favourite projects is a church that she helped design. Susanna also presented this design to the clients who were thrilled and the project went ahead.
For Susanna, “building with SOUL” means helping people find a design solution that fits their needs by putting one’s self into the design of the project. She explained that her inspiration comes from harmonizing the needs of the clients with their surroundings. “It is very rewarding to help people get exactly what they want in their buildings.”
